Concept Paper

Lack of libraries and their impact on rural Nepal Introduction The role of libraries in a student’s life is very valuable which is backed up by the study of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL). In the library, we have a pool of resources to extend our margin of knowledge and also for resource purposes. SLC or the school leaving certificate has great importance in Nepal. The high school (11, 12, or equivalent) is determining years on how students find, pursue, and shape their passion. Libraries and vast availability of materials not just provide them with gentle push forward, but also a safety net where they can fall on if their choice of career is confusing. In my village, Simle Baglung- 13; there aren’t any established libraries. The schools which are mostly government, lack the resources to provide study materials.  Need for the study As per the survey of UNICEF, Global Initiative on Out-of-School Children 2016, the student's dropout rate is hig...

Post Class Reflection

September 2 After a lot of waiting, it was finally my day to present I have always loved the idea of sharing what I know, so presenting on a topic was something i was looking forward too.  No matter how excited you become, something don't go as you planned them out. Right before the start of the class, I heard a massive boom of Transformer overloading. I was quick on my foot and went to my aunt's house nearby. Though the electricity was stable, their internet didn't support me and despite of the glitchy voice and stuttering connection I presented on my topic "Investigative Report". We had one more presentation that day. Jamyang and Manee presented on William Somerset's "Mr Know All". Throughout the presentation, I though about how serious issue racism was and realized that hypocrisy is also a deadly toxin for the society.  After the presentation, our course instructor gave us ideas about text citation with both MS Word and google docs. He told that ...

Post Class Reflection

August 26  After a belly full of late afternoon meal, I attended Mr. Eak Prasad Duwadi sir's class. As always, our instructor had something unique for us to try. I was really worried that my full belly would overrule my urge to study and choke me into sleeping but the energy and enthusiasm sir had supported my choice to be  present and I was really happy that I didn't miss my class.  As usual, we had sets of presenters who had their presentation on literature as well as on reports. The topics discussed today were "Travel Report" by Anjali,  " Recommendation Report and Feasibility Report” by   Mohit and  Shubhechchhak and  “Keeping Errors at Bay” by Sampurna and Rajaram Being a fond traveler and a person that has been to most districts of Nepal, I understood how crucial it was to write travel reports. Not just for professional reasons, but for recreational and cherishing purpose, they serve as crucial tool for self development and observi...

Post Class Reflection

August 12 Another ENGT 102 class, being in language classes have never been this exciting. We have an understandable assignment to write blogs. Although I have been active on literature side, I have skipped alot of Post Class Reflections. Our instructor made it easier for us by being  lenient  on the articles. As the access of internet was not always promisable, sir said we could submit five post class reflections and five literary articles. As usual, we had presenters ready with their presentation. After clarifying the blogging criteria, sir gave the platform for presenters and presentations began.  Today's presentations were both related to technical writing and communications. The presentation on 'Incident Report' was presented first by Anish and his team. Here, the presenters displayed and discussed about why and how the incident reports are written. They presented the types, formats and showed us the sample of the incident report. . Then,  Bibek and his te...

July 15 The first virtual class of English class. I had heard alot about our instructor from my friends of other departments. without a doubt he was what i had heard. A really charming and friendly teacher with romanticism for literature and poem. Being fond of poetry myself, i chuckled from within because it is always wonderful to have teacher who are fond of literature. I feel like poems help you see the world differently. Break from the syntactic part of language and become a free soul. In this one hour class, our instructor introduced himself to us with impressive presentation about himself. Sir also divided the work and gave us instructions on how the course would be conducted, how the deadlines would be meet. All and all, the class was very interactive and fun. We also got to learn about Toulmin Model of writing. I have attached a image below that simplifies this topic.   The class was very fruitful even though it was conducted through virtual platform. We got to learn ...
